| The Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce located amidst picturesque surroundings at Khandola on radiating from NH4A (Panaji - Ponda), Banastarim-Marcela-Jua Road, established in the academic year 1989-90, was initially catering to Arts and Commerce streams upto B.A. and B.Com. level. In the subsequent year (1990-91) the Science faculty was introduced. In Summary the College provides UG education leading to B.A., B.Sc. & B.Com. degrees in English Medium. The college has a well-designed new and spacious building which also houses a modern state of art auditorium. All the three streams of the college (Arts, Science and Commerce) are permanently affiliated to Goa University and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under 2(f) and 12(B). The college is accredited with B+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Banglore, a U.G.C. body that grants accreditation to colleges and universities.
The college has introduced several innovative courses over the years, viz Certificate Course in Tally, Sales tax, Library and Information Science etc. Infact this year too, various Certificate Courses are proposed with the primary objective of developing not just graduates but resourceful citizens. The college has a NSS Unit for 300 volunteers wherein besides being engaged in socially beneficial projects, the Volunteers participate in special camps and undertake community oriented projects. Environmental awareness as well as nature's bountiful treasures are meaningfully dealt in the activities of the nature club. Individual artistic talents are nurtured and allowed to blossom under the aegis of the Students Council. Hobbies are also being activated in association with various Government and Non-Government organisations. The college offers specialization in Microbiology and Computer Science; semi specialisation in Chemistry and Microbiology for B.Sc.; specialization in Advanced Accountancy, Cost and Management Accounting and Business Management for B. Com degree and semi specialization in Economics, Pol. Sc., Geography, Psychology, English, Konkani, Marathi and Hindi for B.A. and is going to introduce complete specialisation in Chemistry at B.Sc. from current academic year.
